I’ve disappeared for quite some time now.  Too many reasons for the disappearance and I’m not going to bore you by discussing them.  In fact, I’m going to get straight to the point of my latest post.

I saw this commercial on television a few days back.  To begin with, I had thought it was a music video.  It is just too good not to share.

I don’t know what the creator’s were eating, drinking, smoking, or injecting when they conceptualized this commercial.  Original idea, fantastic animation, and very entertaining.  The soundtrack is also worth searching for and downloading.

Enough with all the blabber.  Just check the video out for yourselves.

*Update* I enjoyed the track in the video so much, that after some web digging, it turns out that the track is titled “Let’s Roll” from a Kuwaiti hip-hop band called Army Of One who just released their debut album entitled ‘Hush’.

I managed to download a few tracks off the album and was very impressed.  The tracks are fast paced, high-energy, and Arabic infused with hip-hop flows and lyrics.

The above commercial is currently airing on satellite TV channels across the Arab world.  For more information on the band, their music, videos, and events, visit www.army-one.com.

Video: The Charleston Remix February 8, 2007

Posted by O.J. in Entertainment, Music, Videos.

What do you get when an old, black & white clip of the 1920’s popular dance craze ‘ The Charleston’, is played to the fabulous tune of Daft Punk’s ‘Around The World’?

You get one funky remix!  Quite a creative concept.

Video: A Medley By Aries Spears December 14, 2006

Aries Spears was a stand-up comedian who later joined the cast of MADtv in their 3rd Season.  He became famous for his imitations of Bill Cosby, Bobbie Brown, Eddie Murphy, Mike Tyson, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Jackson, Jessie Jackson, MC Hammer, and many many more.

He recently appeared on Live 105 Morning Show (a popular US radio show), in which he performed a medley of rap all-stars such as Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, DMX and Jay-Z.  The accurate depiction of these rappers’ voices, flows, and rhymes is truly off the hook.  This guy is simply amazing!!  You’ll have to watch and hear for yourself…

We have some very interesting tracks lined up for the 4th Edition of Sati’s Hip-Hop and R n’B Corner.

5.  Nas Featuring Will.I.Am – Hip Hop is Dead

Nas returns with a fierce, dark, and unusual hip-hop track.  Produced by Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas, the track carries Rock n’ Roll beats enhanced by a fantastic bass and electric guitar tune.

4.   Fat Joe Featuring Lil Wayne – Make It Rain

An average attempt at a repeat “Lean Back” club anthem.

3.  Jay-Z – Lost Ones

A very elegent chilled-out hip-hop track, with a gorgeous jazzy rythm to it.

2.  Tupac Featuring Ashanti – Pac’s Life

It’s 2Pac…no need for any further elaboration.

1.  Cassie – Long Way To Go

Fantastic R n’B track!  Very catchy chorus.  A great follow-up to “Me & You”.  A remix of this song is available featuring a rap by Lil Wayne.  I personally prefer the original.

In-Flight Entertainment November 15, 2006

It seems as though flying is going to be more leisurely and entertaining than we had previously expected.  Rather than pushing for faster, and obviously more dangerous, aricrafts to decrease flight time between destinations, airlines are taking on a new strategy of providing exceptional entertainment and leisure services to help travelers pass the time.

A few days ago, I posted an article about Emirates Airlines adopting a new technology that allows for the safe use of mobile phones during flight.  Well, the dubai-based airline is at it again – along with several other airlines – breaking new ground by providing travelers with a superior in-flight entertainment system.

In collaboration with Apple, Emirates Airlines will incorporate iPod connections on all its in-flight entertainment systems (First, Business, and Economy Class) where passengers can hook up their iPods and watch movies or listen to music, without the need for adaptors or the fear of losing battery life (the connections simultaneously charge your iPod).

I personally think this is a fantastic innovation!  Rather than be restricted to the movies provided by the airline, I can hook up my iPod video and watch any movie or show I want.  Or, I can simply hook up my regular iPod, Nano, or Shuffle, and enjoy my own music for the remainder of the flight.

With all these new services and innovations airlines have in the pipe-line for their passengers, boring and sleep-filled flights will be a thing of the past.

Two weeks ago while in London, I was at this place called The Wellington where at one point, the DJ started blazing some great old-school hip-hop tracks.  Some classics, some one-hit-wonders.  But they were all hits nonetheless.

This track has been on my mind since then.  When it came out in 1992, I was merely a 14-year old middle school student.  The song was #1 on the charts for over two months straight.  It brings back so many fond memories of my childhood.  It was good times back then.  I remember jammin’ to this track with my buddy ‘Abusseem’, who was one of the few back then who shared my interest in Rap music.

Well, I obviously managed to find the Kriss Kross – ‘Jump’ video on YouTube and thought I’d share it with all of you.  Hope it brings brack some great memories. Sit back…relax…and enjoy!

Create Your Own Radio Station October 15, 2006

I came across this fantastic site today [http://www.pandora.com/]

You simply type in the name of an artist, a band, or a song in the website and Pandora Internet Radio Station automatically searches for similar music qualities and creates a playlist for you.  The Flash Radio function is very easy to use.  With just a click of the mouse, you can add, delete, and search for songs.  I’ve already made a few playlists depending on the kind of mood i’m in…its great!

Perfect for home or the office.  Take control of what you listen to…create your own station.  Enjoy!

Jay-Z Returns October 14, 2006

Rapper-turned-mogul Jay-Z, who sealed his retirement with the release of his last album “The Black Album” in 2003, has in fact pulled a Michael Jordan stunt by confirming the release of  of a new album entitled “Kingdom Come” due November 21, 2006.

Could this maneuver have been planned the whole time; or was Jay-Z’s verse “When I come back like Jordan…”, from the song ‘Encore’, a fortelling in disguise?

Anyhow, the lead single off the new album, “Show Me What You Got,” produced by Just Blaze leaked to radio one week early on Friday, October 6th.  The MP3 spread at a record breaking pace over the weekend. Stations across the United States broke programming and spun “Show Me What You Got,” six, seven, eight; up to 10 times in a row within minutes of receiving the track!!  Within just 2 and a half days from being leaked, the single had over 16 million in audience, and is already # 1 Most Increased on the R&B/Hip Hop chart.

Production on the album includes Dr. Dre, Kanye West, The Neptunes, Timbaland and Swiss Beatz.  Guest features include Eminem, Young Jeezy, Nas, and of course, his “bootylicious” girlfriend Beyonce.

Hip-Hop and Jay-Z fans are guaranteed a great album.  Jay-Z remains one of my favorite rap artists to date.  He’s capable of saying more with a pause between words than most rappers can with entire verses , and the balance he strikes between open-hearted pop ambition and sharp, layered introspection is pretty much without precedent.

“Press Play” October 10, 2006

Whether you love him or hate him, there’s no denying Diddy’s uncanny knack for success.  Oh, didn’t you here?  P. Diddy (formerly known as Puff Daddy aka Sean Combs) recently dropped the “P” in his name, and is now known simply as “Diddy”.

Diddy is planning on releasing his 5th album, “Press Play”, on October 17, 2006.  Over the last year, Diddy was working with the title PDV (PD Five) for the album, but decided to scrap the name last minute.

Artists to be featured on Press Play include:  Kanye West, Pharrell, Mary J. Blige, Brandy, Pharoahe Monch, Just Blaze, Will.I.Am and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, and Mobb Deep’s Havoc.

The first single from the album, which was featured on my Hip-Hop & R n’B’s Top 5 last week, is “Come to Me” featuring Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls on the hook.  The second single to be released very soon is rumoured to be “Tell Me,” featuring Christina Aguilera.

Although I wasn’t really impressed with his last album entitled “The Saga Continues”, Diddy, repsonsible for production on most of the tracks on his album, usually puts out some funky, bouncy, catchy party jams.  I’m looking forward to hearing some new, original, creative tracks rather than the same old generic crap we’ve been flooded with these days.

Anyhow, here is a promo for Diddy’s upcoming album.  Peace out…
