What Brain Type Are You? November 28, 2006

Posted by O.J. in Fun & Games.

Simple, straight forward test, with quite accurate results (at least for me).  This is what the test had to say about the author of “The Theme”:

Brain Type:  “Strategizer”

“Precocious planner”, imaginative, alert to possibilities; quick thinking; likes complexity; computer proficient; enjoys one-up manship; enthusiastic, outspoken, artistic, comedic, manipulative, spontaneous, entrepreneurial; logical abstraction skilled.

Take the ‘Brain Type’ Test and share your results…

Karma’s A B!%&$ch November 27, 2006

Mood:  Dumbfounded

Circumstance:  A colleague of mine had a flat tire the other day while her car was safely parked outside our offices.  I laughed, teased, joked, and poked fun at the situation.  I even snapped a few photos with my 3.2 megapixel phone camera.  The next morning, I greeted her by printing the photos I took of her flat tire and placing them on her desk.

That afternoon, while driving to pick up some food for lunch (with her in the passenger seat), I drove over a sharp object in the middle of the road and heard a loud “bang” (sort of like a large balloon popping), followed by a soft, long “ssssssssshhhhhhhhh” sound (like when a group of people shush you up in a theatre).

Did she chuckle, laugh, tease, or poke fun at the situation while I was changing my tire and getting my suit all dirty? No she didn’t.

Lesson Learned:  Some people don’t know when opportunity hits them smack dab in the face.  This was her chance to get me back for all the pranks I’ve pulled and jokes I’ve played over the last 2-years.

Real Lesson Learned:  When karma kicks you in the ass, it frickin’ hurts!!!

Q&A:  Do I still have the picture I took of her flat tire?  Heeeeeeeeeeell no!!  I deleted all copies of the picture on the spot.  Karma my friends…karma…

Save Water 1

Save Water 2

With water restrictions happening all over the world, a very clever and innovative advertising and PR agency in the US, created this ingenious ad campaign for Denver Water, to make people aware of water shortages and encourage them to become more careful with their water usage.

I love seeing unique, “outside-the-box” thinking when it comes to advertising and marketing, which I believe are so much more effective than your regular boring print ads.

Considering the water shortages we face here in Jordan, maybe our Government should hire this company to help get through to our people.  Despite our attempts at water shortage campaigns in this country, you still see citizens dispensing water like it was air.

This is a grave problem folks!  It’s obvious that our campaigns are weak and ineffective; and might i add, very infrequent.  There should be a mass ad campaign, as inventive as the one above, targeting every city, town, and village in the country, to make sure that Jordanians not only understand the seriousness of the situation, but actually implement steps to save water.  It’s about time we all become more aware of our water usage.

Although Frank was the 4th performance on the 4th day of “Impressionist Week”, I personally think this guy is amazing and so decided to keep his performance for my last post of this sequence.

Frank Caliendo starred on MadTV.  He is a very talented comedian.  He appeared on the Tonight Show with David Letterman a few months back with an amazing skit impersonating George W. Bush.  I remember the clip going around on e-mail (gobble gobble) so some of you may have an idea of how funny and talented he is.

Anyway, Frank is back for “Impressionist Week” with his signature John Madden and George “Dubya” impressions.  Definately the best and funniest performance of them all…enjoy!

I saved the best two performances from “Impressionist Week” for the weekend.  The first three performances were great, but the next two are fantastic!

Kevin Pollak started out as a stand-up comedian/impressionist then made his way into Hollywood.  He returns to his roots for “Impressionist Week” with one of the best Christopher Walkin impressions I’ve ever seen…

How Far Would You Go…For A Plasma TV? November 23, 2006

Posted by O.J. in Humour.

Your friend calls you up and asks you to go over to his/her place to check out the new Sony Plasma Screen TV they just bought.  He/She asks you to pick up a DVD on the way over so you guys can chill-out and watch a movie with High Definition.  You arrive, and the set-up looks great. You congratulate them and take a seat on the couch.

Plasma Screen (Front View)

You notice the TV is placed way too low and ask why it wasn’t hung up higher on the wall.  Your friend ignores you and asks you to pop in the DVD.  You do so.  A good while into the movie, the picture gets distorted and your friend disappears behind the wall to fix the problem.  You scratch your head in confusion and ask if they need any help.  A few minutes later, you walk back there to assist and see this! It only gets better folks!

We are on our third day, thus third performance, of David Letterman’s recent “Impressionist Week”.  Two more days to go, and as always, I’m saving the best and funniest performance for last.

I had never heard of Gordie Brown before, but I’m sure this performance elevated him to stardom.  He’s a young and very talented comedian.  The guy starts out with an amazing Jack Nicholson impression (after watching The Departed last night, Mr. Brown is definately on point), then finishes by acting out a “would-be” Golf game between Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and a few other very well-known actors…fantastic!!  Check out his performance:

I hope most of you enjoyed Rich Little’s impersonsations.  Today, I present you with another veteran impressionist, Frank Travalena.  This guy is also very talented, especially with voices.

Check out his performance on the Tonight Show’s “Impressionist Week” below:

David Letterman, host of the Tonight Show, arranged an “Impressionist Week” on the show this last week which included some of the most talented impressionists the entertainment/comedy industry has to offer.  Rich Little, Fred Travalena, Gordie Brown, Frank Caliendo, and Kevin Pollak.

Rich Little and Fred Travalena are veteran impressionists who have been doing this for over 30 years.  Some of their impressions include Ronald Reagan and Johnny Carson.  Frank Caliendo and Kevin Pollak are very well known comedians/actors.  Caliendo starred on MadTV and was on the Tonight Show a few months ago where he did an amazing John Madden and George W. Bush.  Kevin Pollak is a movie actor who does an amazing Alan Arkin and Christopher Walken, among other well-known celebs.

I particularly enjoyed watching the show this last week.  So, in light of the success of “Impressionist Week”, I’ve decided to post each of the five performances for all those who wish to enjoy some truly amazing and hillarious impersonations.  Who better to start with than the very talented veteran himself, Rich Little.  Take a break from work, studying, or whatever is you’re doing. Sit back, relax and enjoy…
